How to Add Your Products to Onewayshopping
The Onewayshopping shopping search engine may accept other data feeds in different formats. If you are currently using a data feed on any other price comparison website or shopping search engine, we may accept the feed as long as it has our required fields. Feed Format
Onewayshopping.com accepts data feed files in the following formats:
- Tab-delimited text (.txt): Each row represents a product, and product information is listed by column. Each tab represents a new column of product information ( UPC [TAB] SKU [TAB] etc)
- Comma Separated Value (CSV): Similar to tab-delimited, but uses commas to separate columns of information instead of tabs (ex: UPC, SKU, etc).
- XML ensible Markup Language): Using XML syntax to define the tags (product information); can be used to translate already structured information from one form to another.
Creating a Tab-delimited or CSV document with Microsoft Excel:
On the first row of your spreadsheet enter the names of the attributes that describe your items, each in its own column. In the rows below the header row enter information about your items. Each item should be listed in a separate row and information divided into the appropriate columns.
A simple way to create and edit the TAB or CSV file is by using Microsoft Excel program.
Step 1: Start Building Your CSV or TXT File
This is an example of how the layout should appear when creating the product file
Step 2: Once you have added all the products you want, save the file as a CSV file or Tab Delimited File:
a. Select “File” from the top menu and then select "Save As."
b. Use the drop-down "Save As Type" menu to select either CSV (comma delimited, "Comma Separated Values") OR Tab Delimited
c. Enter the name of your file, and hit "Save." It is best not to change your file name from update to update.
d. Excel may ask if you wish to save only the active spreadsheet. Select "Yes."
e. Excel may also warn you that your workbook may not be completely compatible with Text or CSV files, and ask if you want to keep it in this format. Also select "Yes."
The Onewayshopping search engine will fetch your products daily. This is done using a TXT file (txt) or CVS (Comma Separated Value File) file posted on a web server. Product updates are done on the same file. Your file is now ready to be uploaded to Onewayshopping.
Required Fields:
| Title | The name of the product. Please ensure that the title only includes information about the product and not about anything else. |
| Description | Text describing the product. |
| Image_URL | The URL of an associated image for the product. Use only full-sized images. |
| Page_URL | The URL of an associated image for the product. Use only full-sized images. |
| Price | The price of the product. |
| Category | Categorize the item in a single category or in a breadcrumb format (e.g. Computers > Laptops ) |
Highly Recommended Attributes:
| SKU | The item's SKU number in your store. This does not need to be unique as many items may share the same SKU. |
| Color | A comma-separated list of colors a product comes in |
| Free Shipping | If shipping is free for this product, specify as Free Shipping. |
| Condition | Whether the product is new or used. Acceptable values for this field include "new", "used", and "refurbished". |
| MPN | Manufacturer assigned part number for this product. |
| Keywords | Provide up to 10 additional keywords describing the product. |
| Coupons | A list of the ids of coupons or discounts AND which items are eligible. |
| Stock Status | The current availability for the offer. The following values apply: In Stock; Out of Stock; Pre-Order; Back-Order |
| Brand | The brand of the product |
Make sure in the "Category Field" you put the most specific category on your website the product belongs to. For example if the product is in the "Camcorders” category make sure you specify if it's for DVD or VHS or HDV. Categories trees are recommended (Example: Camcorders> DVD Camcorders)
- (Example: If you're a company selling desk tops, you would have to put it in the category called Desktops.) Please be as specific as possible
- Computers -> Computer Systems -> Desktops
When using a CSV format it becomes extremely sensitive to commas. To avoid loss of products during our harvest you may do the following: Save the data feed in a .txt (Tab delimited) format where commas will not affect your structure. If you must use commas in your description field and can't save it as a .txt file, then you may simply put the description in quotation marks.
What if I don’t have product images?
Onewayshopping highly recommends a full set of product images, which increases both the amount and quality of traffic to your site. However, if you have no images, we will create your products without them.
What if I can’t find an appropriate category for my items?
While Onewayshopping prefers it if you use our categories to categorize your file, we recognize that our existing categories do not fit everybody. In this case, please provide your own merchant categories, and we will use these to classify your products for you.
Do you accept Product Files from other shopping comparison engines?
Yes, we accept Google Base, Yahoo Shopping, Shopping.com, Nextag, Yahoo Shopping and PriceGrabber Search formats as long as long as it has our required fields. To find out if your feed is compatible e-mail us at support [at] Onewayshopping.com
Our fetcher operates automatically on a daily basis. We usually fetch our merchants' product data feeds from their data feed locations between 3:30 AM -5:30 AM Eastern time.
As soon as the product file is created and finished you will have to upload the product data feed to a location on your server.
(Example) If Merchant www.xyz345store.com wanted to list products on our website and has created a CSV file they would upload it to a place on their server. We do offer FTP accounts, if you would like to upload the data feed to our servers.
www.xyz345store.com/products.csv (this is an example location only), subfolders can be used to contain Product files.
This URL www.xyz345store.com/products.csv must be given to Onewayshopping so we will know where to pick up the product file on our daily harvest.
Any product changes you make on your website that may contradict the products you list on your data feed, must be updated. If you are changing the price on your website to one of the products, you must make the change to the product data feed. At Onewayshopping we strive to meet the highest level of accuracy when representing products and merchants on our site. A merchant will be removed from Onewayshopping database, if they consistently refuse to update their published prices.
Note: Make sure when saving your CSV file or TXT file, save it as the name of your store.
It should look like Storename.csv or Storename.txt
Step 3: Notify our support team.
Once you have completed your file and want us to review it to make sure it's ready to go live please e-mail the data feed URL to support@onewayshopping.com and include your store name and phone number.
