More than a year after the declining economy began rattling shoppers, this holiday season, electronics have been dominating shoppers’ online searches. This is according to data released today by Onewayshopping.com, a few days following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday.
“Shoppers are watching their spending more carefully, and it appears that they are interested in specific verticals—digital cameras, Blu-ray players, MP3 players, and HDTV,” said Anderson Koibita, Onewayshopping.com CEO.
Onewayshopping.com saw a 53 percent search increase for electronics on Black Friday 2009 over last year, indicating also that consumers are still smartly shopping online, where it’s easier to research products and compare prices for the same items as in previous years. On the other hand, retailers are exploring more ways they can market their products to consumers. As a measure of consumer interest, the company has compiled specific data points on the most popular products and categories.
